Dawn Patrol WWI Fly-In at National Museum of the USAF
Saturday-Sunday, Sep. 22-23, 2018
November 11, 2018 markes the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I. We’ll honor the occasion with this 2-day, 1-night micro-tour to the National Museum of the U.S. Air Force at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. The specific occasion is a biennial gathering of the Great War Aeroplanes Association.
The World War I Dawn Patrol Rendezvous offers flights throughout the day by pilots flying both authentic planes of the era and replica reproduction aircraft.
The event includes WWI living history re-enactors in a war encampment area, radio-controlled model aircraft, period vehicles, music, and a collector’s show of WWI-era items. The event will include guest speakers on WWI topics as well as many family hands-on and educational activities.
The museum is itself a main attraction that could take days to tour. The Air Force Museum has now opened its fourth massive hangar to accommodate its collections and most recently unveiled the permanent home of the WWII legendary B-17 Flyiing Fortress Memphis Belle, one of the U.S. Army Air Force’s first heavy bombers to complete 25 missions.

Displays and exhibits encompass the full history of the Air Force, from the earliest days of military-sponsored flight to the latest aircraft and spacecraft. It is a truly impressive place to visit.
You will be free to tour the museum and the Dawn Patrol outdoor installations on both days of our tour.
Bring your smartphone and ear buds. Wi-fi is free at the museum and podcasts are available for each gallery.
We’ll travel in comfort and safety aboard a 12-passenger van and leave promptly at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday. This tour is currently limited to 10 participants, but we can expand the tour, if necessary. We’ll return to home base in the early evening on Sunday. All taxes are included. Customary gratuities are not included.
